Description
Continuing to add to his significant catalog of chamber music with organ, Craig Phillips has written three brief movements for flute, clarinet, and organ that would make a lovely recital offering, but also would be an excellent prelude-offertory-postlude triptych for service use. "Prelude" has a warm "awakening" tone as the music gently gains in animation before ending calmly. "Ode" is very beautiful and richly expressive, marked "a little wistfully." "Dance" is jubilant and festive; the two winds bounce and frolic over the organ’s accompaniment.

Review
"Each of the three movements of this attractive triptych featuring two wind instruments is musically interesting and satisfying without making too many technical demands on the players. Either or both of the first two movements, a gently animated Prelude, and a reflective Ode, would make lovely preludes. The final Dance is an energetic rondo in compound meter. This beautiful work for an unusual combination of instruments is especially welcome because the movements are of an acceptable length and character to be used in church or recital." --AAM Journal, March/April 2023
