Review
"Who could ask for anything more?
Well...maybe an adult anthem? David Ashley White has that in
'How Many Wonders,' set in his finest, best, arching, pulling,
yearning style. Like 'All Things' [by John Ferguson], it offers
exactly what is need for the occasion without taking too much
rehearsal time, and that--given David's mastery--makes it just
about perfect." --AAM Journal, September 2002
Description
An elegant anthem for SATB and organ,
extolling the wonders God has performed, both in creation and
in the human heart. Easy, effective choral writing; the voices
are well supported by the independent organ accompaniment.
Text
My God, how many wonders you have
done!
We could not count them if we tried,
but name them now with thanks to you,
this is our duty and delight.
How many wonders you have done!
How near to us the wonders are:
You knit our lives within the womb,
O cherish us with daily care,
How many wonders you have done!
You form the earth, our island home,
its shoreline lapped by starlit seas,
so deep, so dakr, so little known.
How many wonders you have done!
When we have sinned, then turned around,
we find this wonder waits for us.
your gladness that we have been found.
How many wonders you have done!
What can we do but sing your praise
for wonders done and still to come,
O source and goal of all our days.
My God, how many wonders you have done!
