Description White uses this first century text of Clement of Alexandria to great effect. It is a profoundly moving piece requiring much control on the part of the choir, but if you have a motivated choir, they and the congregation will love it. Premiered and commissioned by the choir of Christ Church Cathedral (Houston) for the re-opening of their nave.

Text
For wisdom, life, and bliss;
Our holy tribute, this,
for wisdom, life, and bliss,
singing in chorus meet,
singing in concert sweet
the Almighty Son.

We, heirs of peace unpriced,
we, who are born in Christ,
a people free from stain,
praise we our God again,
Lord of our peace.

Our holy tribute this,
peace;
Our holy tribute this,
for wisdom, life, and bliss,
singing in chorus meet,
singing in concert swee
the Almighty Son,
the Lord of our peace,
the Almighty Son.

Text: Clement of Alexandria, First cent. Tr. E.H. Plumptre (1821-1891).
