Comments from the Author, Richard Leach
This is three short stanzas on the angels who announce Jesus' birth to the shepherds in the fields, with three images: a tide of angels, a carillon of angels, a festival of angels. The carillon stanza was written to invite a handbell accompaniment to the singing of these words, and David Ashley White has provided a marvelous one.

Description
A delightful piece for two-part choir and handbells, celebrating the Christmas angels. Delicate, bright, and rhythmic, the music actually seems to suggest the fluttering of wings. With its shifting meters, the work will require careful preparation, but is well worth the effort.

Anthem text
Tide of angels, rising like a sea of light--
glory sweeping over shepherds in the night.
Alleluia, noel! Noel, noel!

Carillon of angels, send the sound abroad,
ringing all the changes in the praise of God.
Alleluia, noel! Noel, noel!

Festival of angels, for a Savior's birth.
Glory in the highest, peace upon the earth!
Alleluia, noel! Noel, noel!
