Text
The souls of the righteous
are in the hand of God,
and there, no torment shall touch them.
In the sight of the unwise,
they seemed to die,
but they are at peace.
Come then, be joyful for the righteous,
for they shall be gathered together,
and shall praise th'eternal God forever.
Amen.

Description
Fedak delivers a gorgeous setting of this traditional text of remembrance. Highly suitable for All Saints, the music projects a serene beauty and radiant comfort. After the final "Amen," an extended organ coda winds the work down in prayerful contemplation. This anthem is extracted from Fedak's requiem oratorio, For Us the Living.
Review
"Valediction, the farewell, opens with a simply beautiful four-part chorale, moves into a duet between the women and the men, and comes back to the hymn-like style to close with a gentle, serene Amen." --Steven Young in The Choral Journal, June/July 2009
