Description A simple and appealing setting of Rae Whitney's poignant, questioning text. The music expresses the poem's form by alternating major and minor modes and unison and SATB choral textures. A quiet but restless keyboard accompaniment and a flute obbligato provide additional color.
Anthem text
Lord, I am searching, yearning for your peace.
Where's its hiding place?
My child, now listen, let your striving cease;
trust my love and grace.
Lord, you have told me peace is yours to give;
I want peace from you!
My child, now listen, trust me and you'll live;
what I pledge, I do.
Lord, you have promised; when will you fulfil
what your teachings say?
My child, now listen; my child, now listen;
if you do my will, peace is yours this day!
