Anthem text
Restore in us, O God,
the splendor of your love;
renew your image in our hearts,
and all our sins remove.
O Spirit, wake in us
the wonder of your power;
from fruitless fear unfurl our lives
like springtime bud and flower.
Bring us, O Christ, to share
the fullness of your joy;
baptize us in the risen life that death cannot destroy.
Three-personed God, fulfill
the promise of your grace,
that we, when all our searching end,
may see you face to face.

Description Craig Phillips has crafted a deeply expressive setting of a text by Carl P. Daw, Jr. that calls on God to “Restore in us the splendor of your love” and “wake us to the wonder of your power.” The anthem presses forward--building to internal climaxes that are rich and fervent, before ending peacefully.
Review
"The first of these sets a Carl Daw text in a through-composed choral essay. Several unaccompanied passages and a spare accompaniment texture make this an ideal piece for combined organist-choirmaster situations. Each part divides from time to time, yet the music is not as challenging as many of Phillips' pieces. It does have his characteristic charm and musical logic." --AAM Journal, Jan. 2016.
