Text
Walk softly upon the earth.
May its beauty forever surround you,
its wonders forever astound you,
may its wisdom delight you,
its music invite you
to dance and to play and to sing.
May you love and be loved by all that you meet.
May you know and practice compassion.
Rejoice in the earth and all of creation.
Rejoice in life.
Walk softly upon the earth.
--Alfred V. Fedak

The Harvard University Choir performing this piece in a concert at Eglise Saint-Eustache, Paris, France:

Description
Fedak's original text is reminiscent of both traditional Gaelic and American Indian blessings. It receives a lush musical treatment beginning and ending with an interlocking accompaniment pattern in the lower voices that depicts the "walking softly" of the text.
