Description
This bright and joyous choral fanfare celebrates the joy of Easter with the familiar words of St. John of Damascus. The optional brass and percussion parts are not at all difficult, making them easily performable by amateur musicians. The music is original, though it is reminiscent of familiar Easter carols including “The Strife Is O’er” and “Good Christians All, Rejoice and Sing.” Optional brass quartet and timpani available separately in full score/parts.

Anthem text
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
The day of resurrection!
Earth, tell it out abroad;
the Passover of gladness,
the Passover of God.
From death to life eternal,
from sin’s dominion free,
our Christ has brought us over
with hymns of victory! Alleluia!

--John of Damascus, 8th cent.;
tr. John Mason Neale, adapt David Ashley White
