Text
A hymn of glory let us sing,
new hymns throughout the world shall ring;
by a new way none ever trod
Christ takes His place--the throne of God!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
You are a present joy, O Lord;
you will be ever our reward;
and great the light in You we see
to guide us to eternity.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
O risen Christ, ascended Lord,
all praise to You let earth accord,
who are, while endless ages run,
with Father and with Spirit, One.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
Text: The Venerable Bede (673-735); tr. Elizabeth Rundle Charles, 1858

Description
White’s anthem is based loosely on the 15th century hymn tune DEO GRACIAS (Agincourt Hymn) and draws upon its grand modal character and medieval flavor. Not difficult and suitable for any week in Eastertide.
Review
"Trinity Sunday is the only festival Sunday based on a doctrine rather than a story, and can be a challenge for music selection. Dr. White has modified the familiar hymn DEO GRACIAS both melodically and harmonically in this setting for the ancient text by the Venerable Bede. The result is a vigorous marriage between materials of the 8th, 15th, and 21st centuries, a marriage that works well. The piece is fun to sing and to hear, and would be interesting to pair with the congregation's singing of the hymn that reviews the entire life of Christ." Worship Arts, Jan./Feb. 2013
