Description
A charming and colorful anthem for Easter that will also make use of your handbells. The distinctive text and compelling music will make this a striking addition to your Easter services.

Text
Arise! Fill death's empty hole with joy sounds,
and loose the bells to clang and ring.
All silence break with psalm and music.
To Christ full praise and glory sing.
Lift up your hearts to laughter's dance;
the grave has lost its fatal spine.

Survivors, stand and show your freedom.
Outlived is death; blood mutes all sin.
Wear Aaron's robes before the Lord God
with edges trimmed in golden bells;*
make noise wherever you may be:
The great High Priest has opened life.

Inscribe your hours with vibrant movement
and write, "Holy to the Lord" in love
and chime the chord of feast and gladness,
your Christ has led your exodus.
A land of milk and honey waits for children,
Christ is hymn and meal.

[*Exodus 28:31-35--The High Priest's robe is trimmed with golden bells and pomegranates; pomegranates were later used as symbols of resurrection.]
