Anthem text
On wings of wondrous majesty
bearing a virgin's corwn,
from deepest heavens halls of gold
great Gabriel came down.
He passed the shining planets by,
to Nazareth he came,
and bowing low before a maid
he spoke the Holy Name.
"All hail to you, O favored one,
lady of light and grace.
The love that flows among the star
now looks upon your face.
Such love as knowing no desire
within your womb shall flame,
seeding the child of sacred fire
to bear the Holy Name."
"My soul doth magnify the Lord!
God is my only joy,
that I with God am in accord
to birth the holy boy."
So high she sang and with such grace
as mortals never sing,
that all the wintertime of earth was garlanded in spring.
Since that far hour of glorious time,
light has dispelled our gloom,
and given us a love sublime
conquering cross and tomb.
and we who once did crucify
to our eternal shame,
now lift our song to glorify
his high and Holy Name.
