Description
A spirited and vigorous arrangement of music by Giovanni Gastoldi (c. 1550-1622) with a new text by Hal Hopson. May be performed a capella or with the optional keyboard accompaniment, but either way your choir will enjoy this lively piece.
Text
"Christ Is Born," the choirs are singing;
all the earth with joy is ringing,
peace on earth this night is bringing.
Christ is born, rejoice and sing.
Refrain
Be gone all gloom and sadness,
all hearts be filled with gladness.
Rejoice, the Lord is born.
Christ is born in yonder manger.
To the humble, he's no stranger,
have no fear of harm or danger.
Christ is born, rejoice and sing. Refrain
Text: Hal H. Hopson.

Reviews
"Recommended"-The American Organist, April 1993
"Hal Hopson's adaptation of one of the many Gastoldi madrigalian spiritual songs is a wonderful addition to the Christmas repertoire. The madrigal is strophic with sections of echo (best accomplished by reducing the number of voices singing). The "B" section has a short section of polyphonic writing that sparkles with energy and excitement. Hopson's English text makes this music accessible to many churches. Ranges are excellent for youth choir, and this madrigal could be sung by the adult and youth choirs in different parts of the building. Try an option of accompanying the voice parts with SATB recorders, or strings."-Creator, Sept/Oct '93
