Wayne L. Wold
Wayne L. Wold (b. 1954) is active as a teacher, church musician, composer, author, performer, and clinician. He serves as Associate Professor of Music and College Organist at Hood College in Frederick, Md. Over 200 of his compositions are published by fourteen different companies in the U.S. and Australia and include twenty volumes of works for organ and instruments with organ, 30 choir anthems, a children's musical, a recorder suite, and several hymn tunes. He is the author of numerous hymn and anthem texts, articles in professional journals, and two books -- Tune My Heart to Sing: Devotions for Choirs Based on the Revised Common Lectionary and Preaching to the Choir: The Care and Nurture of the Church Choir. Performing on organ and harpsichord as a soloist and ensemble player, he has appeared with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, with the Hood Chamber Singers at Lincoln Center, and in numerous churches across the U.S. and in Europe. He also leads several hymn festivals each year. He has served as a clinician for numerous organizations including Choristers Guild, the American Guild of Organists, The Hymn Society, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, and numerous publishing companies. He is a board member of the Central Maryland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, is past president of Region One of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, and served on the editorial committee for the hymnal Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Born in Minnesota, he holds the Bachelor of Music degree from Concordia College in Moorhead Minn., the Master of Sacred Music degree from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va.
