Louise Reid

Louise Reid (née Marsh) read music at Oxford, as the organ scholar of Lincoln College, and subsequently studied organ, voice and choral conducting at the Royal Academy of Music. Whilst in London she also held the post of organ scholar at Westminster Abbey.

Louise has worked in several Cathedrals and was the founder Director of the Girls’ Choirs in both Guildford and Ely Cathedrals. She was also for several years a Musical Director for the BBC daily service and has directed RSCM choral courses both in the UK and the USA. As an organist Louise has given recitals in numerous UK venues, as well as in Perth and Sydney, Australia; Jerusalem; and Montreux, Switzerland, and her recording of Olivier Messiaen's ‘La Nativité du Seigneur’ on Wakefield Cathedral organ received outstanding reviews.

Louise held the post of Director of Music at St John’s College, Durham from 2019 -24, and has also been a vocal coach for Durham Cathedral. She holds honorary awards from both the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal School of Church Music and is a fellow of the Royal College of Organists.
