Robert Jordahl
Robert Jordahl (1926-2008) was born in Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946, and earned Bachelor of Music (Theory) and Master of Music (Education) degrees at the University of Texas in Austin, and a doctorate in music theory from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester N.Y. He began teaching music in public schools and also at Alaska Methodist University. He held numerous positions as choirmaster and organist and held the Choirmaster Certificate from the American Guild of Organists. Dr. Jordahl was on the faculty of McNeese State University from 1968 until his retirement in April 1999. Previous to his retirement, Dr. Jordahl received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities for work at Dartmouth College and the University of Kansas.
