Eleanor Daley

One of Canada's most successful and gifted composers of choral music, Eleanor Daley is recognized in choral circles the world over. Her compositions are distinguished by a rich imagination and lyricism--enduring qualities that are immediately appealing to singers and listeners alike.

Born and raised in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada, Eleanor holds a Bachelor's degree in Organ Performance from Queen’s University in Kingston; as well as diplomas in organ and piano performance from Trinity College, England, and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. A large number of her works have been written for the choirs at Toronto's Fairlawn Avenue United Church, where she has been the Director of Music since 1982.

Eleanor has over one hundred and fifty works in publication, and is commissioned extensively throughout North America. Her compositions have been widely performed, recorded and aired in North America, Great Britain, Europe, South Africa, and the Far East.  Eleanor has twice received the National Choral Award for Outstanding Choral Composition of the Year, given by the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors (ACCC).
