Text
Any kingdom we have may fall,
no matter how great, how small.
The body itself, or work, or wealth;
any kingdom we have may fall.
But your kingdom of love goes on, O God,
your kingdom of love goes on.
And our love may live within your kingdom,
when all our kingdoms fall.

Any power we have will pass,
like dew on morning grass.
The time is now, to serve, to love;
any power we have will pass.
But your power to make things new goes on,
your power goes on and on.
And our power may serve your coming kingdom,
till all our powers pass.

Any glory we have will fade,
like stars at dawn of day.
A sweet to taste, yet not to trust;
any glory we have will fade.
But your glory in Christ goes on, O God,
your glory in Christ goes on.
May we walk in your glory within your kingdom,
when all our glories fade.

Description
Richard Leach's text is inspired by the lines "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done" from the Lord's Prayer. It celebrates the fact that, though earthly kingdoms come and go, God's kingdom stands firm forever. Each verse of Cooman's folk-influenced tune ends in a stirring musical refrain that is finally capped with a soaring descant in the last stanza.
