Description
The initial stanza of a George Herbert poem serves as the text for Alan Lewis's beautifully expressive motet. Herbert's words acknowledge that God can be glorified even through imperfect human beings. Each section of the brief work begins with a phrase for the tenor section alone. The motet was originally composed for the "Music & Architecture" series at Calvary Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
