Description
These five unaccompanied pieces by Sarah MacDonald are useful as introits or short anthems throughout the church year. Although several can be attached to certain feasts/seasons (Eastertide, Christ the King, Building Dedication), all are basically general in text. The moods vary from explosively energetic to hushed and mysterious. Moderate divisi throughout.
Texts
The Lord Is My Light
Introit for General Use
The Lord is my light and my salvation,
whom then shall I fear?
The Lord is my light and my salvation,
of whom then shall I be afraid?
Hearken unto my voice, O Lord,
when I call upon thee,
Be strong and he shall comfort thine heart,
and put thou thy trust in the Lord.
The Lord is my light and my salvation,
whom then shall I fear?
--Psalm 27:1, 8, 16
Turn to Me in Mercy
Introit for General Use
Turn to me in mercy,
As you always do to those who love your name.
O God, Father, Son, Spirit.
--Psalm 119:132
Introit for Creationtide
He made the stars also,
and God set them in the firmament of the heav’n,
to give light upon the earth;
God saw that it was good.

The Triumph of Our King
Introit for Eastertide, Christ the King or General Use
Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, rejoice!
Rejoice, now all you heavenly angels,
Rejoice, now all creation.
Resound, reound, resound, resound,
trumpet of salvation,
and proclaim the triumph of our King!
--Adapted from the Exsultet
The Midst of Thy Temple

Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy house,
and the place where thine honour dwelleth.
We wait for thy loving kindness O God,
in the midst of thy temple.

Alleluia, alleluia, Alleluia!
--Psalm 26:8, 48:9
