Description
The early American tune LOVING-KINDNESS, matched here with Richard Leach's fine Easter text, is given a spirited treatment, brimming with energy and enthusiasm. The SATB choir is accompanied by flute (opt. piccolo or recorder) and drum, and the vocal part-writing is natural and effective.

Text
An empty tomb at early dawn, glory, hallelujah!
Jesus who died is living on, glory hallelujah!
Not less than life in flesh and bone, glory, hallelujah!
A greater life than this we own, glory, hallelujah!
From flesh to spirit, seed to grain, glory, hallelujah!
God's power and justice are made plain, glory, hallelujah!
From shame to glory all will see, glory, hallelujah!
From death to immortality, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, glory, hallelujah!
From Christ to God the world is passed, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Review
"A Richard Leach text, 'glory, hallelujahs' and all, is fused to the rambunctious Sacred Harp tune LOVING KINDNESS. Holden-Holloway's deft setting has a 'rustic' quality, energized by the 'fife and drum.' Recommended." --Cross Accent, Spring 2000

Comments from the Author, Richard Leach
This is a straightforward Easter anthem paraphrasing verses from 1 Corinthians 15. It was written to take advantage of a traditional tune from the Southern Harmony tradition, whose refrain of "Glory, hallelujah!" after each short line seemed to call for an Easter text.
