Description
The three brief fanfares in this collection are scored for organ, brass, and timpani, and would enliven any festival occasion. "Fanfare" and "Flourish for Easter" are scored for quartet, and "Fanfare on Old Hundredth" for quintet. In "Fanfare," the brass and timpani are treated antiphonally with the organ. In "Fanfare on Old Hundredth," sections of dancing triplets in the brass surround a grand presentation of the familiar hymn by the organ and timpani. In "Flourish for Easter," the music builds up from the bass several times in a rising gesture.
