Description
Commissioned by the Westchester County (N.Y.) Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, this collection of seven variations on the early American hymn tune FOUNDATION presents the hymn in a variety of colors, keys, meters, and textures. Accessible and attractive, the work may be performed whole or in part. Movements include: Prelude, Canon, Diversion, Chorale, Trumpet Tune, Meditation, and Finale.

"This set of variations uses the early American hymn tune FOUNDATION and gives a variety of colors, keys, meters and textures. One could use this 'as is' or extract several of the variations. The writing is clean and clear with interesting registrations. The music is not difficult, save for a few spots in the final variation that will require more practice. One variation especially at which to look is the third, named Diversion.
