Description
An easily rehearsed anthem in ABA form. It begins and ends with a lilting, lively "Awake, my soul, and sing!" The middle section is slower and reflective in a homophonic texture, but the piece ends in a buoyant "My heart shall sing forever the glory of the Lord."

Anthem text
Awake, my soul, and sing!
My heart shall sing forever the glory of the Lord.

Be lifted up, O Lord our God,
your glory shines through all the earth,
your steadfast love endures for ever.

When troubles came you strengthened me
and when I cried you answered.
Your loving kindness has no end:
you strengthen my soul.

--from Psalms 108 and 138
