The people who in darkness walked
have seen a great light shining,
and those who in the shadows live
have seen the new day's dawning:

for unto us a Child is born,
to us a Son is given,
and on his shoulders he shall bring
to earth the peace of heaven.
His name will be called Counselor,
the everlasting Father,
the Mighty God, the Prince of Peace
whose reign will be forever:

Description The delightful Swedish melody “Bereden Väg för Herran” is combined with a metrical text based on the familiar passage from Isaiah 9 to make a delightful, easy anthem for Advent. Though the melody is bouncy and vibrant, the music ends in hushed contemplation of “the peace of heaven.”
