Description
This deeply expressive anthem uses a text adapted from words of St. John of the Cross. A flowing piano accompaniment supports both lyrical melodic lines and rich, chorale-like textures. Commissioned in memory of the life of a monastic, it is suitable for any occasion that celebrates service or commitment, or for remembrance.

The voice of eternity beckoned me.
It measured my life and welcomed me.
Great Love has embraced me.
Of what I once believed, I am now certain.
For everything falls into eternity,
and Great Love has embraced me.
To Divine Love I held out my arms.
While still in life I let go gently.
Love embraced me peacefully.
The door to joy is open.
Like a child, I am without fear.
I go to that from which I came.
