Review
"David Ashley White's 'And His Gifts' does not--again, strictly speaking--use a Pentecost text. Ephesians 4:11-13 occurs on Proper 12/B, the Celebration of a New Ministry, and the Ordination of a Priest. Even so, I would eagerly use this setting of that text after the Acts reading (2:1-11) for the Vigil of Pentecost or between the reading of Acts and Ezekiel on the Day of Pentecost. With only 35 measures, this is a little piece, but it is a brilliant little piece." --AAM Journal, March 2002

Description
A brief anthem in declamatory style for SAB and organ. The text, Ephesians 4:11-13, is punctuated by a splashy organ accompaniment. Easy and highly dramatic.

Text
And his gifts were that some should be apostles,
some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry,
for the building up of the body of Christ,
until we all attain to the unity of the faith
and of the knowledge of the Son of God.

--Ephesians 4:11-13
